The Mushkegowuk Environmental Research Centre (MERC) is an independent First Nations environmental research centre whose services were created to engage in environmental research and stewardship in Kitaskiminano – “Our Land”.
Our Board, Staff, Associates and Strategic Partners have the expertise, networks, knowledge, skills and qualified experience to support Mushkegowuk and other First Nations in:
- Developing and implementing environmental programs, projects and services;
- Gathering and reporting on the critical information and data required for ongoing stewardship and sound environmental decision-making.
This includes but is not limited to environmental research, monitoring and assessments, independent peer reviews, and land-based support.
The work of MERC informs and supports the needs and interests of Indigenous Peoples, First Nations, Northern Communities and Clients.
