The Mushkegowuk Environmental Research Centre (MERC) is a not-for-profit corporation set up by Mushkegowuk Council in 2005.
The Centre is connected to First Nation communities through our Members – the Chiefs of the seven First Nations in Mushkegowuk Tribal Council: Attawapiskat, Kashechewan, Fort Albany, Moose Cree, Taykwa Tagamou, Chapleau Cree and Missanabie Cree First Nations.
MERC is governed by a Board of Directors elected by the Membership, with an ex officio director from Mushkegowuk Council.
As a small, independent operation, MERC is supported by an extensive network. Flexible and responsive we strive to serve and support First Nations and Clients in meeting their environmental needs and interests based on our mandate.
